 BREAKING THE BONDS OF SEXUAL ADDICTION

1. Recognize  that this is an issue for you!

Matt. 5:27-30; 2 Sam. 11:1-3; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; James 1:12-15

 

2. Repent turning to God in confession and with commitment to change.

1 Jn. 1:9; Ps. 51; Job 31:1

 

3. Remove any and all objects of lust.  This includes what you have, where you go, and who you are with.

1 Thess. 5:22; Matt. 18:8-9; 2 Tim 2:22

 

4.Reveal to others your addiction for support and accountability.

5. Replace old thoughts and habits with new ones.

Eph. 4:17-32; Phil. 4:6-9

 

6. Renew  your mind through studying, meditating on, and memorizing God’s Word.

Rom. 12:1-2; Phil. 4:6-9

 

7. Relate to the Lord more than ever before.  Make your relationship a lifestyle not a devotional.

Eph. 5:1-21; 2 Pet. 1:5-11

 

8. Rely upon the Lord in faith, trust, and prayer.  Realize that God understands.  You are not alone.

Phil. 4:6; 1 Cor. 10:13; Heb. 4:14-16

 

9.Respect  women as sisters, valuable, and precious!

1 Tim. 5:2; Prov. 31:10; 1 Pet. 3:7

 

10. Remember and Repeat these things.  This is a lifetime battle.  Victories will come daily.

Places of temptation – supermarket check outs, department stores, lingerie sections, video stores

7. Being alone with members of the opposite sex
